Repairing our Bushtracker Caravan
Blog 6
We drove our crumpled caravan to the Bushtracker factory in Maroochydore Queensland early July. CIL Insurances accessed the damage and authorised the repairs.
Bushtracker started by stripping our caravan and removing the roof. They then removed the damaged cupboards and wall sections, all of the electrical wiring, and all of the electrical goods, fridge, stove, inverter, satellite dish, the lot had to come out and be tested.
Over the next three months they totally rebuilt our van. They even were able to replace the decals we had on the back of the van with new ones that looked exactly as the ones that were there before the accident.
The CIL assessor was fantastic and totally fair in dealing with our insurance claim.
Wayne Ford, Bushtracker’s factory foreman was meticulous in his work as was Peter the head electrician and Daniel from Sound in Motion.
At the end of the repairs by Bushtracker we added a new cargo box to the front of our caravan for better storage and ease of access, relocated our Webaso diesel heater in the new box and relocated the spare tyres and gas bottles.
We picked up our van on Friday 12 October and spent the weekend at Cotton Tree Caravan Park in Maroochydore to make sure everything was operating properly.
On Monday 15th October we headed back home to Sydney. The repairs so far have proven excellent and the van towed even better with the new cargo box in the front.
We say a very sincere thank you to all at Bushtracker for their diligent and excellent work in repairing our van.
Our next trip starts around end October 2007 when we will meander down the Murray River from Albury to the sea in South Australia.
